C&C previously took a look at the top 2027 wide receiver class several months back with the full article here, but here is the full breakdown.
Looking back at that evaluation, the SIZE group featured several physically imposing receivers, including Luke Byrer (University), Tanzer George (Morgantown), Javontae Wynes (Woodrow Wilson), and Carson Treadway (Independence), all recognized for their length, athleticism, and ability to win contested catches.
The SPEED tier highlighted explosive playmakers including Rudy Carrillo (Fairmont Senior), Jamarius Smith (Bluefield), Philip Shields (Washington), Kno’Sean Hampton (Herbert Hoover), Arden Marshall (Martinsburg), Chris Upton (Linsly), Kyle Weaver (University), and Tylee Simon (Bluefield).
The BREAKOUTS group included Douglas Mayer (Spring Mills), Zane Wipf (Martinsburg), Kai Martin (Chapmanville), Kyle Moore (Berkeley Springs), Cameron Slone (Tug Valley), Britton Lough (Pendleton County), Cayden Arnold (Tucker County), Terrindez Bryant (Mingo Central), and Soier Reed (Cameron), all identified as players capable of making significant jumps entering 2026.
The top rankings were headlined by co-No. 1 receivers Hayden George and Boston Todd (Martinsburg), followed by Kaleil Lewis (University), Andreas Reese (Huntington), and Donte Newsome (Huntington), each recognized for their production, athletic traits, and next-level upside.
Updates
The rising senior receiver class has remained one of the busiest groups in the state throughout the offseason. Several prospects delivered standout performances during camps and showcase events, including Rudy Carillo (Fairmont Senior), Zane Wipf (Martinsburg), and Donte Newsome (Huntington). Each continues to generate recruiting attention and holds various in-state offers from programs such as Glenville State, West Virginia State, Fairmont State, and Concord.
Carson Treadway (Independence) has also enjoyed a productive offseason, turning strong event performances into additional recruiting momentum. His efforts have resulted in offers from Glenville State and Charleston as he continues climbing recruiting boards.
Recruiting activity has accelerated into division one as well. Andreas Reese (Huntington), Kaleil Lewis (University), and Boston Todd (Martinsburg) each collected their first Division I offers from Morgan State. Lewis added another notable offer from Howard.
Another player who boosted his stock significantly through offseason events was Blake Johnson (North Marion). After a strong showcase performance, Johnson added Fairmont State to his growing offer list and continues to attract attention from college programs.
New Names
A number of new receivers have emerged over the course of the offseason and begun generating legitimate recruiting interest.
DJ Spencer (George Washington), who played at Capital last season, has quickly made an impact at his new school and earned his first offers from Fairmont State and West Virginia State. His combination of athleticism and playmaking ability has helped place him firmly on the recruiting radar.
Ripley teammates Jace McCoy and Kyler Fisher both turned heads at the showcase with strong testing performances. McCoy was particularly impressive in athletic testing, while Fisher also demonstrated the physical tools that make him an intriguing prospect moving forward.
Additional names gaining momentum include Noah Evans (Sissonville), Trent Roles (Meadow Bridge), and Brenden McCutcheon (Morgantown), all of whom have generated increased attention through camp performances, and athletic development.
Another prospect making noise is Derek Jewell (Tug Valley), who recently earned an offer from Ohio Northern. Unfortunately, Jewell suffered a season-ending injury this offseason, putting his senior campaign on hold before it began. Despite the setback, he remains an attractive recruiting prospect thanks to the athleticism, production, and potential he demonstrated prior to the injury.
