C&C previously took a look at the top 2027 two-way, interior, and edge defensive linemen several months back with the full article here, but here is the full breakdown.

The TWO-WAY group featured highly versatile linemen including James Payne (George Washington), Drey Grinter (Parkersburg), Jack Gamble (University), and Keian Shelton (Cabell Midland), all projecting as players who could contribute on either side of the ball at the next level.

The BIG BODIES group included Anthony Smith (Frankfort), Tristin Noble (Bridgeport), Owen Stanley (Elkins), Devin Hulver (Elkins), Alex McGinnis (Fairmont Senior), Akeem Davis (Wheeling Park), and Darryn McCormick (Linsly), each bringing interior size, strength, and physical upside.

The PASS RUSHERS tier featured King Abercrombie (Fairmont Senior), Jake Franke (Wheeling Park), Zion Christian (Riverside), Antonyo Paschall (Huntington), Ty Heavner (Pendleton County), Devon Williams (University), Jay Butcher (George Washington), along with Isaac Maynard (Spring Valley), Ian Fowler (Wahama), Sean Dent (Philip Barbour), and Isaias Selen (Princeton), all noted for their athletic upside and ability to disrupt offenses.

The INTERIOR rankings were led by Chase Travis (Morgantown) at No. 1, followed by Jeremiah Lyles (Huntington), both recognized for their consistency, leverage, motor, and ability to create interior disruption at a high level.

On the EDGE, Isaiah Conley (Independence) earned the top spot after a highly productive season, followed by Christian Hoosier (Williamstown) and Jay’Sean Walker (Herbert Hoover), each standing out for their pass-rush ability, athletic traits, and developmental upside.

Updates

Stock has risen significantly across the defensive front for rising seniors, with several players strengthening their recruiting profiles through camp performances and offseason development. Transfer movement was relatively limited, though one notable addition came from the South, where Chaun Dowell (Graham, VA, 2027) transferred to Bluefield, adding immediate size and experience to the defensive line group.

Several athletes delivered standout performances at the showcase, headlined by Isaiah Conley (Independence) and Christian Hoosier (Williamstown), both of whom produced top-tier testing results among all participants. Their combine-level performances have translated into increased recruiting attention, including offers from Glenville State and Charleston for Conley.

A strong camp circuit run has also elevated several additional defensive linemen. Antonyo Paschall (Huntington), Chase Travis (Morgantown), and Jeremiah Lyles (Huntington) have all generated consistent interest across the Mountain East footprint. Meanwhile, Tristin Noble (Bridgeport), Jay’Sean Walker (Herbert Hoover), and Devon Williams (University) have attracted legitimate attention from multiple levels of college programs, reflecting their continued development and versatility up front.

One of the most underrated breakout performers was Darryn McCormick (Linsly), who delivered a dominant showcase showing and has since accumulated multiple Division II offers as his recruitment continues to trend upward.

New Names

Several new defensive line prospects have emerged through recent camps and evaluations.

Judson Rich (Spring Valley) stood out across multiple events, consistently meeting top physical and athletic benchmarks that translate well to the next level. Peyton Nicola (Morgantown) has also seen his recruiting profile rise steadily, backed by an impressive frame and developing skill set. Jeremiah Sanabria (Martinsburg) impressed with strong burst and athletic explosiveness that immediately stood out in drills and testing.

Additional names beginning to draw attention include Quinton Cooper (Roane County), Harrison Smith (Independence), Gavin Stone (University), and Parker Smith (Ripley), all of whom have shown enough flashes to remain on recruiting radars moving forward.

A notable transfer addition to the group is Jake Endicott (Man to Logan), who is quickly gaining attention as a developmental defensive line prospect with strong upside and emerging physical tools.
