Players to Watch

(for players not mentioned in our ‘Teams to Watch’ article)

Blake Hartman

Runningback / Linebacker (Senior)

At this point, everyone in the state knows about Hartman. The recent Lehigh commit has been a phenom since his freshman year. Last year, he had his best season yet putting up all-state numbers at runningback, wide receiver, linebacker, and on special teams. The Applemen return 20 starters and have a slew of Top 300 players. With Hartman leading the way, they are a dark horse in the AAA title race.

TJ Guire

Runningback / Linebacker (Senior)

Guire has been regarded as a sleeper for most of his career. Last year Elkins had the toughest regular season schedule of anyone in Class AA but Guire performed well. The 6’3″ 210 pound back was both a tough runner but also among the state’s leaders in tackles. Keep an eye out for him this coming Fall.

Jacob Barrick

Tight End / Wide Receiver (Junior)

Barrick is one of the lesser known panhandle players but that should not take away from his ability. The receiving tight end will be an invaluable weapon for Spring Mills this season. He has a great mix of size, speed, and catching ability. He is a very good prospect for a next level H-back type.

Frankie Amore

Quarterback (Senior)

Amore will be the offensive leader of a quietly growing Washington team. 2019 saw the Patriots make a big jump in terms of competitiveness and much of this was due to Amore’s playmaking ability at quarterback. He is agile with a decent arm and with Washington’s newly put together schedule, might have enough to get them into playoff contention.

Caden Boggs

Runningback / Defensive Back (Senior)

Tygarts Valley has improved every single season since Boggs’ freshman year alongside a group of talented seniors. Their 2019 campaign was the school’s best in over a decade and much of this success was due to Boggs plant-and-go speed. He is a tough runner and will continue to be as Tygarts Valley positions itself as a potential deep-running playoff team.
