Buffalo

Buffalo quietly put together one of the more impressive seasons in Class AA during 2025. After opening the year 0-2, the Bison rattled off eight consecutive victories and narrowly missed the postseason despite finishing the regular season on a high note.
There is every reason to believe Buffalo can break into the playoff field in 2026. The Bison return all-state standout Caleb Cales, specialist Carson Shock, and George Washington transfer quarterback Mark Blankenship, giving them proven playmakers on both sides of the ball.
Key matchups against PikeView and Braxton County could determine their playoff positioning, while a season finale against Lincoln County offers the opportunity to secure valuable postseason points.
Logan
2025 Record: 8-2

The Wildcats enjoyed a breakthrough season in 2025, opening 6-0 and returning to the playoffs after a multi-year absence. Their success reestablished Logan as a contender in a competitive Class AA landscape.
The Wildcats return several important building blocks, including lineman Jack Ball and athlete Zo Murphy. However, their biggest weapon remains versatile standout Lucas Lambert, who possesses the athleticism to impact the game from virtually any position on the field.
A challenging schedule awaits, with late-season contests against Mingo Central and Chapmanville likely carrying major playoff implications.
Mingo Central
2025 Record: 8-2

The Miners returned to prominence in 2025, opening the season with eight consecutive victories before advancing to the quarterfinal round of the playoffs.
Expectations only increase entering 2026 thanks to the return of all-state quarterback Jamere Knuckles, explosive running back Jace Coleman, and standout linebacker Taegan Hackney. Few teams in the classification return a stronger nucleus.
Midseason contests against Independence and late-season battles with Chapmanville and Doddridge County will provide a clear measure of where the Miners stand among the state’s elite.
Poca
2025 Record: 2-8

The Dots relied heavily on youth throughout the 2025 season. After winning two of their first three games, a demanding schedule proved difficult to overcome, but valuable experience was gained along the way.
Poca will once again lean on all-state standout Corey Cook, who remains one of the program’s most impactful two-way players. As the supporting cast continues to mature, improvement should follow.
Critical games against Buffalo, South Harrison, Scott, and Braxton County could determine whether the Dots can work their way back into playoff contention.
Ravenswood
2025 Record: 0-10

The Red Devils endured another difficult season in 2025, but signs of progress emerged throughout the year. Most notably, the offense found its rhythm during the final month of the season, averaging multiple touchdowns per game over the last four contests.
Youth and roster depth remain ongoing challenges, but the foundation for improvement exists. After navigating a difficult early stretch against Buffalo and South Harrison, Ravenswood should have opportunities later in the season to build momentum and compete for victories.
Roane County
2025 Record: 9-1

The Raiders continued the most successful stretch in program history by posting a dominant regular season and qualifying for the playoffs for a fourth consecutive year.
Roane County’s trademark formula of a powerful rushing attack and physical defense should remain intact thanks to the return of all-state standouts Koltyn Starcher and Javon Letourneau.
The schedule appears favorable overall, but an immediate test against Doddridge County and a later matchup with Williamstown will provide important measuring sticks.
Scott
2025 Record: 2-8

The Skyhawks experienced the growing pains that often accompany a young roster, but the progress made late in the season was impossible to ignore. After averaging just six points per game through their first seven contests, Scott exploded for more than 30 points per game over its final three outings.
The program will remain youthful in 2026, but the momentum generated late last season provides reason for optimism.
The schedule offers no shortage of challenges, with key contests against Wayne, Sissonville, Poca, and Man all carrying significance.
Sissonville
2025 Record: 5-5

After enduring back-to-back winless seasons, Sissonville enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in 2025, winning five games and closing the year with victories in three of its final four contests.
Momentum appears sustainable thanks to the return of key leaders at every level of the roster. Lineman Sam Dyer, skill-position standout Noah Evans, and quarterback Maddox Balog provide a strong foundation.
Swing games against Scott, Clay County, Poca, and Wayne could ultimately determine whether the Indians take another step forward.
Wayne
2025 Record: 4-6

The Pioneers once again faced a demanding schedule and narrowly missed the playoffs despite competing against quality opposition throughout the year.
Much of Wayne’s success will revolve around standout offensive weapon Donte Worrell, whose versatility gives the Pioneers a player capable of changing games on his own.
