Greenbrier West
2025 Record: 4-6

The Cavaliers battled through a difficult stretch of elite opponents and ultimately returned to the postseason after a one-year absence.
Greenbrier West will be younger at several key positions following the graduation of its senior class. However, history suggests the Cavaliers will remain competitive regardless of personnel changes.
That resilience will be tested immediately. The schedule includes an opener against Wirt County, midseason battles with Man and James Monroe, and a late-season showdown against Midland Trail. Another playoff berth will require Greenbrier West to once again embrace a difficult road.
Meadow Bridge
2025 Record: 7-3

The Wildcats enjoyed a successful first season under head coach Brandon Wickline, earning a postseason berth and establishing a strong foundation for the future.
There is considerable optimism surrounding the program entering 2026. All-state linebacker Bow Wykle returns to lead the defense, while versatile offensive weapon Trent Roles gives Meadow Bridge a proven playmaker on the other side of the ball.
The Wildcats also benefit from a favorable schedule. Their biggest tests appear to be a midseason showdown with Clay-Battelle and a regular-season finale against Craig County.
Montcalm
2025 Record: 4-6

The Generals overcame a midseason slump to finish the year strong, winning two of their final three games and continuing one of the most successful stretches in program history.
Maintaining that momentum will not be easy. Montcalm graduates three key standouts from the 2025 squad and remains one of the smallest schools in the state. Still, expectations within the program have risen significantly in recent years.
Several pivotal contests could determine the direction of the season, including matchups against Eastern Montgomery (VA), Phelps (KY), and an opening-week battle with Meadow Bridge.
Mount View
2025 Record: 1-9

The Golden Knights endured one of the most challenging starts in Class A during 2025, scoring just eight points across their first five games. Rather than folding, however, they continued to improve throughout the year.
Mount View earned its first victory during the middle of the season and averaged more than 15 points per game over the closing stretch. Although promising young athlete Aaron Hood Jr. transferred to Princeton, there are still reasons for optimism.
Beginning in Week 3, opportunities arise against Richwood, Montcalm, Wyoming East, and Summers County. A strong performance in that stretch could help the Golden Knights build momentum and significantly improve their win total.
Pocahontas County
2025 Record: 3-7

The Warriors faced a difficult schedule and narrowly missed the postseason despite closing the year with back-to-back victories.
A return to the playoffs is certainly attainable in 2026. Offensive centerpiece Griffin Taylor returns to lead the attack, providing the Warriors with one of their most important building blocks.
The opening month will be critical. Matchups against Tucker County, Meadow Bridge, and Greenbrier West come within the first four weeks, and success in those contests could set the tone for a postseason push.
Richwood
2025 Record: 0-10

The Lumberjacks endured a winless season, but the record does not tell the entire story. Richwood showed notable improvement throughout the year and finished the season playing its best football.
Following a competitive battle with Tygarts Valley, the Lumberjacks averaged more than 25 points per game over their final four contests, including a 42-point shootout against Valley.
The schedule offers opportunities to continue that growth. Early games against Webster County and Calhoun County provide chances to enter the win column, while late-season matchups against Montcalm and Valley could prove equally important.
Webster County
2025 Record: 2-8

The Highlanders spent much of 2025 laying the groundwork for future success. Several competitive performances and increased offensive production during the second half of the season offered encouraging signs.
That upward trajectory should continue thanks to the return of rising junior standouts Ryder Wright and Isaiah Cutlip, two of the program’s most promising young players.
If Webster County hopes to make a playoff push, key games against Summers County, Gilmer County, and Calhoun County could become defining moments. Success in those matchups would go a long way toward extending the program’s progress.
