Oak Hill
2025 Record: 5-5
SSAC Rank: #12 (Round One)
Oak Hill used a strong start to the 2025 season to secure its third consecutive playoff appearance, opening the year 3-1 and establishing itself as a consistent postseason contender. The Red Devils battled through adversity throughout the remainder of the schedule and showed the ability to compete against quality opponents.
The biggest returning piece is Cade Compton, who remains the centerpiece of the program on both offense and defense. His versatility and leadership will be critical as Oak Hill replaces several contributors and looks for younger players to step into expanded roles.
The 2026 schedule provides plenty of opportunities. Midseason matchups against Nicholas County, Capital, and Hurricane could play a major role in determining whether the Red Devils continue their playoff streak.
Riverside
2025 Record: 2-8
SSAC Rank: #17
Riverside experienced a season of growth in 2025, improving throughout the year and becoming increasingly competitive against quality opponents. The Warriors found ways to win moments despite a difficult schedule and now enter 2026 looking to take another step forward.
The roster will feature some new faces after losing players through transfer, but several important pieces remain. Specialist Eli Taft and linemen Joel Peters and Paul Cochran provide a strong foundation as Riverside looks to establish consistency.
The opening stretch of the season presents a major opportunity. Matchups against Nicholas County, Oak Hill, St. Albans, and Nitro could determine whether the Warriors can build early momentum and position themselves for playoff contention.
Woodrow Wilson
2025 Record: 5-5
SSAC Rank: #11 (Round One)
Woodrow Wilson returned to the postseason for the second consecutive season in 2025, overcoming a difficult stretch of games and finishing strong enough to earn another playoff appearance. The Flying Eagles continued to show they can compete with quality opponents and enter 2026 looking to turn that consistency into a deeper postseason run.
There is plenty to build around moving forward. Breakout running back Gage Burdette returns as one of the top offensive weapons in the region, while quarterback Gage Price and athlete Javontae Wynes give the offense additional versatility. The offensive line should be a strength with Andrew Sweeney and Ben Fitzwater providing leadership and stability up front.
The schedule will provide plenty of challenges. The Flying Eagles will travel frequently throughout the season, with notable matchups against Herbert Hoover, Winfield, and Cabell Midland serving as important tests during the middle portion of the schedule.
