Showcase Recap: Top Linebacker & Defensive Back Performances

The linebacker and defensive back groups combined for one of the most athletic collections of talent at the showcase. Speed, range, explosiveness, and change-of-direction ability were on full display throughout testing, while drills and competition periods highlighted instincts, physicality, and coverage ability. Several young prospects emerged as major stock risers, while established names reinforced why they are already gaining serious recruiting attention.

Test-Out Standouts

Tramel Musgrove — South Charleston (2029)
Phenomenal all-around performance from one of the top young prospects at the event. Extremely long and twitchy for his age with excellent testing numbers to match. Looked advanced in competition settings and already carries legitimate Division I interest for good reason.

Matthew Iman — Moorefield (2029)
Another young standout who turned heads throughout the day. Possesses a strong frame and moved very well, highlighted by a near 9’0” broad jump that showcased his explosiveness.

David Hill — South Charleston (2027) | DB
One of the more impressive defensive backs in attendance. Elite speed profile with near-4.5 speed and a top shuttle time around 4.33. Athleticism immediately translated into drills and coverage work.

Gabe Burson — Musselman (2027)
Strong testing performance paired with quality work during competition. Posted a sub-4.4 shuttle and 8’6” broad jump, showing strong lower-body explosiveness and lateral movement ability.

William Burson — Musselman (2027)
Among the top overall testers in the group. Recorded a sub-4.6 shuttle with a springy 8’6” broad jump. Athletic profile suggests a breakout senior season ahead.

Collin Andis — Morgantown (2027)
Versatile multi-position athlete who looked sharp throughout the day. Has clearly added strength in the weight room and paired it with solid testing numbers, including a 4.76 40-yard dash.

Robert Miller — South Charleston (2027) | DB
Solid all-around showing. Good size at defensive back and used physicality effectively during competition. Also demonstrated strong vertical speed with a time around 4.7 in the 40.

Shannon Mitchell — Herbert Hoover (2028) | DB
Backed up his high ranking with a strong day in both testing and live competition. Posted a 4.6 40 and 8’6” broad jump while showing explosive movement skills and long-term upside.

Big Days

Darius Thomas — Capital (2028) | DB
One of the bigger stock risers at the event. Good straight-line speed paired with an excellent 4.4 shuttle. Competed well throughout live periods.

Kolby Walker — Martinsburg (2028) | DB
Tested well but stood out even more in competition. Lean, long athlete who plays with intensity and consistently limited separation in coverage situations.

Isaac Pickens — Lewis County (2027)
Strong upward-moving performance. Checked nearly every box with solid testing numbers and productive drill work throughout the day.

Carson Knight — Martinsburg (2027)
Another linebacker who elevated his stock significantly. Looks physically developed and showed noticeable improvement paired with a strong testing performance.

Kadyn Baisden — Buckhannon-Upshur (2027)
Continues to improve each time evaluated. Rangy athlete with good movement skills that were especially noticeable during pass coverage drills.

Brody Jeran — Bridgeport (2027)
Massive frame with hybrid upside. Projects well as a stand-up linebacker near the line of scrimmage and moved well for his size.

Brooks King — Morgantown (2028)
Solid tester who truly stood out during competition. Showed strong instincts, aggression, and overall movement ability throughout live reps.

Great Work

Greyson Wyland — Buckhannon-Upshur (2027)
Trending upward following a productive day in both testing and drills. Continues to develop into a reliable defensive prospect.

Noah Reed — Spring Mills (2029)
Young standout who will continue gaining attention moving forward. Good size for his age with movement skills that already stand out.

Connor Rice — Lincoln (2027)
Strong overall day and appears positioned for a productive senior season. Consistent performer throughout testing and competition.

Bow Wykle — Meadow Bridge (2027)
Represented smaller-school football well with a highly competitive performance. Played aggressively and looks poised for a strong senior campaign.

Carson Samples — Winfield (2027)
Scrappy, physical player who competed hard throughout the event. Projects as a centerpiece defender for the Generals this season.

Cade Compton — Oak Hill (2027)
Looked strong across all phases of the day. Well-built athlete who moved efficiently and produced quality reps in competition.

Parker Bigelow — Fairmont Senior (2027)
Backed up his high ranking with solid testing and competitive reps. Likely does most of his damage inside the box once pads come on.
