2022 Recap

Oak Glen, a young football team, wrapped up its 2022 season with a 2-8 record. While the overall win-loss ratio may not reflect their progress, the season was marked by valuable lessons, growth, and two notable victories over Toronto Ohio and Berkeley Springs.

Offensively, the team struggled to find consistency, averaging 13 points per game. However, their determination and perseverance were evident in the few close games where they battled fiercely until the final whistle.  On the defensive end, Oak Glen faced challenges, surrendering an average of 38 points per game. The team encountered some tough opponents, such as Weir and Cameron.  Nevertheless, these games provided valuable learning experiences for the young players, highlighting areas that needed improvement and motivating them to work harder in the future.

The victories over Toronto Ohio and Berkeley Springs showcased the potential and talent within the team. These wins were the result of the players’ commitment and the coaching staff’s dedication. They served as milestones for Oak Glen, instilling confidence and proving that the team had the capability to triumph against formidable opponents.

As the final whistle blew on the 2022 Oak Glen football season, it was clear that this was just the beginning of a journey. The team’s dedication and resilience, coupled with the valuable experience gained throughout the season, will undoubtedly fuel their growth and success in the upcoming years. With continued hard work and determination, Oak Glen is poised to rise to new heights and make their mark on the gridiron.

 

2023 Outlook

 

Oak Glen High School’s Golden Bears football team is eagerly preparing for the upcoming 2023 season under the leadership of head coach Doug Taylor, who enters his second season at the helm. With the objective of growth and maturity, the Golden Bears are determined to make this year one to remember.

One of the key players to watch this fall is linebacker Wesley Molish. Known for his exceptional speed, agility, and relentless pursuit of the ball carrier, Molish is expected to be a defensive force to be reckoned with. His ability to read plays and make crucial tackles will undoubtedly have a significant impact on the team’s success.

In addition to Molish, running back Anthony Burt is poised to shine on the field. Burt’s explosive speed and elusiveness make him a formidable threat in the backfield. With a keen eye for finding gaps and breaking tackles, he has the potential to lead the Golden Bears’ ground game and contribute significantly to the team’s offensive success.
