The Linsly Cadet football team emerged from the shadows to conquer the 2022 season with a record-breaking 9-1 performance. Averaging an impressive 33 points per game, the Cadets’ offense was a force to be reckoned with. Led by a cohesive and explosive unit, their ability to consistently put points on the board put opposing teams on their heels.
While the offense shone brightly, the Cadets’ defense played an equally crucial role in their outstanding season. Giving up an average of only 17 points per game, Linsly’s defense proved to be a formidable wall against their opponents. The Cadets’ ability to limit their opponents’ scoring opportunities played a pivotal role in securing their victories.
The 2022 season will undoubtedly go down in Linsly Cadet football history. Alongside their triumph over Steubenville, the team secured impressive wins against Cardinal Mooney, Fort Frye, Dover, and Morgantown. Each victory showcased the Cadets’ resilience, determination, and exceptional teamwork. It may be hard for people to understand the significance of these wins. The Steubenville win was one of the first by a West Virginia school in decades. Cardinal Mooney, Fort Frye, and Dover are elite teams that would be at the top of their respective divisions if they were in West Virginia. Historic.

2023 Outlook
As the 2023 high school football season approaches, the Linsly Cadets are poised to build upon their remarkable success from last year. Head coach BJ Depew and his talented squad are determined to make their mark once again and cement their status as one of the most formidable teams in the state.
With an impressive roster led by star quarterback Atley Cowan, linebacker Raymond Kovalesky, defensive lineman Jamie Riedel, wide receiver Malte Feil, defensive lineman Brody Cottrill, and running back Alex Taylor, the Cadets possess a formidable lineup that is sure to cause trouble for their opponents.
At the heart of the Cadets’ offensive prowess is the dynamic quarterback, Atley Cowan. The schedule ends the year with 5 away games, playing their last home game in late September. While the names of schools in Ohio my alude you, we can promise they are incredibly tough opponents for anyone to play. The Cadets won’t play a West Virginia opponent until late October when they travel to Bridgeport. They will wrap up the season going on the road to Morgantown in the first week of November.
Fans can expect thrilling matchups and intense rivalries as the Cadets battle it out with their opponents week after week. With their combination of offensive firepower, defensive tenacity, and the guidance of Coach Depew, the Cadets are poised to make a strong statement in the state football scene once again.
