2022 Recap

Cabell Midland Knights, the highly anticipated football team of 2022, concluded their season with a 6-4 record and an unexpected first-round playoff loss. Despite falling short of their ultimate goal, the Knights showcased remarkable talent and determination throughout the season.

The Knights’ offense proved to be a force to be reckoned with, averaging an impressive 32 points per game. Led by their talented quarterback and an explosive group of skill players, Cabell Midland consistently put up points against tough opponents. Their offensive prowess was evident as they frequently executed dynamic plays and exploited defensive weaknesses.

However, despite their impressive scoring average, the Knights’ defense was equally significant in their success. Giving up an average of 19 points per game, the team’s defensive unit displayed resilience and tenacity.

Unfortunately, the season ended on a somber note as the Knights faced a disappointing loss to Bridgeport in the first round of the playoffs. The defeat marked the end of their journey sooner than expected, leaving both players and fans with a sense of unfulfilled potential. Nevertheless, the Knights’ achievements during the regular season cannot be overlooked.

Looking ahead, the Knights have a strong foundation to build upon. With a solid core of talented players and a resilient coaching staff, the team has the potential to bounce back and exceed expectations in the future. The lessons learned from the playoff loss will undoubtedly fuel their determination to strive for greatness in the coming seasons.

In conclusion, the Cabell Midland Knights football team had a promising season, finishing with a 6-4 record and an unfortunate early playoff exit. Their high-scoring offense and formidable defense were commendable, showcasing the team’s immense talent and potential. While the season didn’t end as expected, the Knights’ remarkable performances and unity provide a strong foundation for future success. With continued hard work and determination, Cabell Midland is poised to make waves in the seasons to come.

2023 Outlook

As the summer heat begins to wane and the leaves change their hues, the spotlight in Cabell County turns towards the highly anticipated 2023 Cabell Midland Knights football team. Led by head coach Luke Salmons, this squad is gearing up to prove the naysayers wrong and make their mark on the gridiron.

Despite being underrated for reasons yet to be determined, the Knights are unquestionably a force to be reckoned with, and many believe they should be considered one of the top five preseason ranked teams. Their potential to dominate the competition cannot be understated, and it all starts with the addition of transfer quarterback Robert Shockey. The experienced signal-caller previously led his former team to a state championship appearance, and his arrival brings a new level of skill and leadership to the Knights’ offense.

When assessing the team’s roster, it becomes evident that there is an abundance of phenomenal players ready to leave their mark. Linebacker Cannon Lewis and tight end Michael Lunsford exemplify the level of talent present on this team. Lewis possesses exceptional instincts and tackles with authority, while Lunsford’s athleticism and reliable hands make him a threat in the passing game.

In the backfield, running back Curtis Jones Jr. stands out as a true stud. With his explosive speed and elusive moves, Jones Jr. is a nightmare for opposing defenses. Additionally, offensive lineman Braylen Ryder, running backs Landon Nida and Jayden Branch, and lineman Mason Ramsey will provide leadership and stability to the team.

The Knights boast an impressive roster with a deep bench, ensuring that Coach Salmons has a plethora of talented players at his disposal. Linebacker Trace Adkins, offensive lineman Gage Ruley, running backs Ray Ray Williams and Zach Ramey, wide receiver Caden Bowen, offensive lineman Matthew Edwards, and many others are poised to make significant contributions on both sides of the ball.

Having had a successful offseason, the Knights have fine-tuned their skills, improved their chemistry, and honed their strategies. With a strong foundation and a relentless drive to succeed, Cabell Midland is primed to contend for the coveted Wheeling Island championship.

In the coming months, expect the Cabell Midland Knights to unleash their offensive prowess, showcase their defensive tenacity, and leave a trail of defeated opponents in their wake. Don’t sleep on this team— they are poised to exceed expectations and etch their names in the annals of West Virginia high school football history.
