What to Expect

The Flying Eagles of Woodrow Wilson will make the trek north for a week three MSAC contest against the Parkersburg Big Reds. Parkersburg is coming off of their first loss which came last week in a blowout delivered by Cabell Midland. Meanwhile, Woodrow Wilson is coming off of their first victory of the season over rival Greenbrier East. Parkersburg is looking to get back on track and position themselves for another playoff entrance. Woodrow Wilson, facing an always daunting big-school MSAC road, will need to win this one if they hope to improve up to 4-5 wins this season. The Flying Eagles and Big Reds have battled each other yearly since before the 1970’s and Woodrow Wilson has not won at Stadium Field in several decades.

Parkersburg’s defense will play a huge role in this contest. Justin Waybright and CJ Wade will need to be very disciplined going against Woodrow Wilson’s double wing offense. Big Red LB Gage Fiore will need to be the man out there to avoid slashing fullback dives. Bryson Singer will need to get back to his opening game form and get a run game formed similar to Riverside two weeks ago.

Woodrow Wilson’s offense should help them control the tempo. Avoiding turnovers will be key. Defensively, Parkersburg will play a dual-threat offense but Ian Pomeroy and Tristan Stiffler should be able to hold the front well. The most interesting matchup of this contest will be that of each squads’ special teams. The Flying Eagles’ kicker Joseph Wells is known to hit field goals in excess of 40 yards and Parkersburg punter Matt Curry pinned multiple punts inside the 30 yard line the last two weeks against Morgantown and Cabell Midland.

Parkersburg will come in with the advantage but this Woodrow Wilson team can definitely control this game. An age old rivalry that might be coming to an end soon with Woodrow Wilson leaving the MSAC. Should be a great game, check in at 7:30 here or on Fourteen55 Media to see!
