Kennedy Award Watch Update (Week Nine)

Gathering Attention

Kerry Martin Jr. (QB) Capital

Brenton Strange (WR) Parkersburg

Will Hackney (QB) Sissonville

#5 Daylin Goad

MingoCentralMiners

Goad has somewhat quietly been one of the most prolific stars in the state.  As the Miners keep winning, his numbers keep going up.  With two whole games left, the sophomore has amassed 2849 yards (2482 passing) and 42 touchdowns (34 passing) to only eight interceptions.  With a playoff run, his chances are legitimate.

#4 Hunter America

DoddridgeCountyBulldogsAmerica had another solid week.  He didn’t get to stay in the entire game and Tanner Lett scored several times before he did but he still neared 200 yards with several scores.  He will have a statement game upcoming next week against Williamstown.

#3 Grant Harman

Harman showed up against Jefferson.  The man is towards the top of state in interceptions and his QB rating (most likely) is among the very top in the state.  He is arguably the top player on the statistically winningest class in state history.

#2 Graeson Malashevich

SpringValleyTimberwolvesMalashevich had a BYE week.  He still seems to be one of the most electric players in AAA football.  His true run for the award will definitely come against the top teams in the playoffs as Spring Valley pushes for the state title.

#1 Connor Neal

FairmontSeniorPolarBears

Neal did this week what Connor Neal has done all season long: throw touchdown passes efficiently.  He threw multiple scores with only two incompletions against one-loss Grafton and rolls towards the playoffs as the best player on the best team in AA.
