WV Recruitment Report: SENIOR COMMITS

Some seniors have used the early signing period to already pick their schools.  Here at C&Co., we couldn’t be prouder of in-state talent going to the next level.  We believe in the Mountain State’s talent ranging from a D3 walk-on to the a five-star recruit.  Under 1% of high school athletes make it to the next level, carry your accomplishment with pride!  Here’s the commits we have gathered:

UniversityHawks

Clay Bailey (QB) University

Status: Committed to West Virginia (Med School)

The star QB of the Hawks released during the regular season his plans for Med School at WVU.  His football prospects are unknown, but it is a superb accomplishment nonetheless and should be noted.

PocahontasCountyWarriors

Morgan Baldwin (WR) Pocahontas County

An important part to a year of winning by Pocahontas County, Baldwin was a very solid ball player.  His work and dedication had him recognized during high school and now a shot to play college ball.

RiversideWarriors

Ben Billanti (OL) Riverside

Status: Committed to West Virginia State

Billanti was a key piece in getting Riverside out of their bottomfeeder rut.  He was a reliable offensive lineman his entire career who went against the top talent in the state.  His actions were noticed!

SouthHarrisonHawks

Freddy Canary (RB) South Harrison

Status: Committed to West Virginia State

The state’s fastest player will continue on at West Virginia State.  Canary had an electric senior season giving South Harrison perhaps their best team in school history.  Also, setting several school and state records along the way.

SpringValleyTimberwolves

Jacob Cassidy (TE) Spring Valley

Status: Committed to Marshall

Cassidy didn’t get a ring but being in the title game two straight years is nothing short of impressive.  One of the best put together players in the state, Marshall is getting a guy coming in at college size with great athleticism.

CapitalCougars

Uriah Cravens (LB) Capital

Status: Committed to West Virginia Wesleyan

Cravens was overseen with the feats of Capital’s offense.  Don’t forget Capital’s defense handled Martinsburg better than mostly everyone.  He’s also a talented special teams playmaker.

MidlandTrailPatriots

Hunter Darby (WR) Midland Trail

Status: Committed to Concord

Midland Trail was primarily a running team but when they did throw it, Darby was a great possession receiver.  He was a top receiver in his region and was able to pick up the attention of Concord.

CabellMidlandKnights

Isaiah Duncan (RB) Cabell Midland

Status: Committed to Marshall

Duncan missed several games early in the season but once he was back- he was back.  He was a powerful runner that had several games with video game numbers.  He’s taking a shot with Marshall and resembles back-types that have had recent success there.

CabellMidlandKnights

Brier Elswick (OL) Cabell Midland

Status: Committed to West Virginia State

Elswick was a lumbering force across the Cabell Midland line.  As one of the state’s largest lineman, WV State sees that they can chisel him into an awesome next level mauler.

JeffersonCougars

Scooter Gaskins (WR) Jefferson

Status: Committed to Sheperd

Gaskins senior season didn’t outdo his junior.  Jefferson struggled a lot but Gaskins was not a reason for it.  A dynamic playmaker on both sides, he’s headed to nearby Sheperd to continue his career.

CapitalCougars

Chase Goldsmith (LB) Capital

Status: Committed to West Virginia Wesleyan

Goldsmith was another in the underrated Capital defense.  As a balanced LB, he ran the defense and will be seen as that sort of captain on the next level too.  Goldsmith had a good senior year.

ShermanTide

Will Hensley (DL) Sherman

Sherman had another awesome season in 2017.  Hensely was a large part in that, having several dominant games in Single A.  This caught the eye of several in-state colleges who are giving him a shot.

MartinsburgBulldogs

Trey Henry (DL) Martinsburg

MartinsburgBulldogs

Jalen Hesen (DL) Martinsburg

Status: Committed to Sheperd

Hesen seemed to get better and better every game.  There were a lot of big Bulldog names but in the most important games, Hesen was the game changer.  His drive and technical skill set him apart from most.

BridgeportIndians

Koby Kiefer (K) Bridgeport

Status: Committed to Cornell

Kiefer got plenty of practice kicking field goals and extra points at Bridgeport.  Being accepted into Cornell and also playing football is a heck of an accomplishment.  West Virginia is growing as a special teams pipeline.

MartinsburgBulldogs

Tavis Lee (LB) Martinsburg

Status: Committed to West Virginia

The 2016 Huff Award winner announced his WVU commitment awhile back.  A speed demon off the edge with the strength to flatten O-Lineman.  Lee is a legitimate Power 5 prospect and Eastern Panhandle QB’s will gladly see him go.

SummersCountyBobcats

Tucker Lilly (ATH) Summers County

Status: Committed to Concord

The fiery playmaker that led Summers County on a run to the semifinals finds home in nearby Concord.  His size was always his biggest critique, but his athleticism and ball play can’t be denied.  He can play.

HurricaneRedskins

Payton Lunsford (LB) Hurricane

Status: Committed to West Virginia State

Lunsford was an underrated force within the Redskins team on many sides of the ball.  A sure-tackler that led by example.  He had a fantastic run for them and now has a new chapter ahead.

McCutcheon was mentioned often during Grizzly games.  He was their main playmaker and very solid on defense- remember the crazy numbers Nicholas County had on defense?

NicholasCountyGrizzlies

Trey Milam (OL) Nicholas County

Status: Committed to West Virginia Wesleyan

Nicholas County also had a resounding line.  Milam was an athletic lineman with decent size.  He can definitely develop into a good player at Wesleyan.  He was apart of some well-performing squads.

KeyserGoldenTornado

Brady Ours (DB) Keyser

Status: Committed to Robert Morris

Ours was a tough two-way player for the Golden Tornado.  As the QB as well, both sides of the ball ran through him.  He has a favorable size and grit, and should go into Robert Morris with a bright future.

SpringValleyTimberwolves

Owen Porter (LB) Spring Valley

Status: Committed to Marshall

One of the most talented defenders of the state is heading for Division One.  A hard hitter and memorable runner, Porter went out with a bang with a great showing in the state championship.  He was heavily recruited by the Thundering Herd.

WestsideRenegades

Ben Price (LB) Westside

Status: Committed to Concord

Westside had a quiet winning season but was overlooked in a crowded AA.  They had several good wins and Ben Price was a part in that.  He should do his hometown proud with his move to the next level.

NitroWildcats

Nick Reip (RB) Nitro

Status: Committed to Alderson Broaddus

Nitro struggled in 2017 but Reip had impressive performances.  He was an offensive horse at running back giving even the top teams issues.  We congratulate his move to Alderson Broaddus!

SummersCountyBobcats

Andrew Richmond (DL) Summers County

Status: Committed to Concord

Richmond won our A Lineman of the Year.  He was a force with great football IQ.  Including his frame, he was the reason they pitched several straight shutouts in their Semifinal run.  He has a big future.

MusselmanApplemen

David Robertson (OL) Musselman

Status: Committed to West Virginia Wesleyan

We were high on Robertson and so was Wesleyan.  He has great size and run blocking ability.  He was integral in the record breaking running careers of the backs behind him.

HurricaneRedskins

Cole Runion (OL) Hurricane

Status: Committed to Glenville State

Hurricane had a lot of big names this past year.  Runion was an underrated piece in a talented Redskin line that dominated some of the best teams in the state.  He should be a great fit up in Glenville.

ShermanTide

Ben Salmons (ATH) Sherman

Status: Committed to Concord

Salmons was the all-around player that made the Tide click.  He had one of his best games upsetting Madonna on a long rode trip.  He can play several positions and has malleability going forward.

HurricaneRedskins

Steven Shine (DL) Hurricane

Status: Committed to Arizona Western

Shine has the size and burst of the ball for big time ball.  He believes this as he’s heading out West to play some JUCO ball.  We believe in his chances as he went toe-to-toe with some of the Power 5 lineman recruits of the Mountain State.

BerkeleySpringsIndians

Mason Sipes (OL) Berkeley Springs

Status: Committed to Sheperd

WoodrowWilsonFlyingEagles

Peyton Thomas (DB) Woodrow Wilson

Status: Committed to Alderson Broaddus

Thomas played on several sides of the ball for Woodrow Wilson.  He was a big-play returner and came up with several picks in 2017.  Alderson Broaddus landed his commitment several weeks ago.

WheelingParkPatriots

Cross Wilkinson (QB) Wheeling Park

Status: Committed to Toledo

Wilkinson had an incredible run at Wheeling Park, breaking records and winning championships.  He’s one of the most skilled pocket passers the state has seen in the last decade.  He’s following through with his commitment to Toledo.

HurricaneRedskins

Dakota Williams (WR) Hurricane

Status: Committed to Arizona Western

Joining his teammate, Williams will try his hand at JUCO ball.  Williams was a constant deep ball threat every single game.  He could strike at any time.  Hopefully, this time next year Williams will get the offers he’s looking for.

GeorgeWashingtonPatriots

Tanner Williams (LB) George Washington

Status: Committed to Marshall

Williams had an intense career with George Washington.  He would’ve liked to gone out better as a team but his individual career was great.  He’s going to have a shot to compete at Marshall at a high level.
